After the game, Kluivert conceded defeat saying the result doesn’t matter but was quick to mention that Zambia were much fitter.
Lusaka, May 26 – Barcelona and Dutch legend, Patrick Kluivert, has said age was on Zambia’s side in their 3-0 defeat to the Chipolopolo Legends at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
A team made up of ex-Chipolopolo players beat Barcelona Legends 3-0 in an exhibition match with goals from Collins Mbesuma, Califord Mulenga and James Chamanga.
After the game, Kluivert conceded defeat saying the result doesn’t matter but was quick to mention that Zambia were much fitter.
“The most important thing is that the people enjoyed it. We are just here to enjoy being together. The Zambian legends did a great job. I think a few players were quite young and fitter, but we had a nice visit to Zambia.”
“We are happy to be here, and that is the most important thing. The people are very friendly, and that is what I like about them,” Kluivert said.
Scorer of one of the goals, Mbesuma hailed the organizers.
“I would like to thank the organizers. As 2012 players, we really appreciate the opportunity to relive our memories by seeing the supporters come out in large numbers. It was a good game.” Mbesuma said.
