  1. The current debt default was due to mismanagement. By 2011 Zambia had managed to raise $4 billion in its reserves, economic growth was averaging 5%, inflation was single digit, base lending rate at 12%. Usd was K5. By 2021 Zambia was back in debt, economic growth was negative, inflation 20%, lending rate 30%, Usd K17.
Greedy and lack of vision of some of the characters we entrust to run the country are the main problems needed to be addressed if we are to come out of this debt trap.
This country still has a vast resource base which if managed properly and objectively can move us out of this artificial perpetual poverty, but only if we diagnose the problems honestly and correctly.

    1. 🤔. Are you saying the revelations in the article are baseless and do not make sense? Mismanagement could be one aspect but historical background is what we need to zero in and correct if we had to come out of this debt quagmire as a country.
