Let’s delve into the intriguing notion of sizzling sausages being used as a bribe by the Speaker! Can she truly win over the media through this farce?

Lusaka, Aug. 23 – In a somewhat comical twist of events, Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms. Nelly Mutti, hosted an extravagant media breakfast, complete with delectable treats and a charming ambiance.
The purpose of this lavish affair, according to Ms. Mutti, was to allow the media to ask her burning questions and, one can speculate, to sway their judgment in her favour.
But one must wonder, does the Speaker truly believe that a sumptuous spread of scrambled eggs, succulent sausages, and crispy bacon is enough to convince the press to write flattering headlines about her? Shouldn’t it be the public, rather than a breakfast gathering, who passes judgment on the fairness and impartiality of the Speaker?

It is interesting to note that Ms. Mutti took it upon herself to comment on an alleged common assault case involving Hon. Given Katuta. One would think that, as a lawyer herself, she would be well aware of the judicial principles that ensure innocence until proven guilty. Yet, she jumped the gun and expressed her disapproval, seemingly disregarding the presumption of innocence that our legal system upholds.
But let’s not forget the peculiar case of Hon. Kasanda, who was rebuked by the Speaker while she remained comfortably seated. The same offense that led to a seven-day suspension for Hon. Katuta did not seem to carry the same weight when it came to the Speaker’s treatment of her seated colleague. One can’t help but question the consistency and fairness of such disciplinary actions.
Now, let’s delve into the intriguing notion of sausages being used as a bribe. Could it be that the Speaker believes that she can win over the media by offering them a hearty breakfast?
Is the aroma of sizzling sausages meant to cloud their judgment and sway their reporting? It seems rather outlandish to insinuate such a sausage-based conspiracy, but in the realm of satire, anything is possible.
As we navigate the realm of political satire, it becomes apparent that the Speaker’s claims of fairness and impartiality are met with skepticism.
As an independent writer and critical thinker, I would say that the public remains the ultimate judge, relying on observed actions and a keen eye for inconsistencies. It is through their critical analysis that the truth would be revealed, regardless of breakfast feasts or attempts to mold media perception.

You can’t coerce independent media minds. I always say you don’t go into journalism to become rich or popular but to hold people in positions of power accountable! Journalism is what maintains democracy because it’s often the voice for the voiceless. And we see it as a great tool for progressive social change!
So, let the sausages sizzle, and the breakfast conversations flow, but in the end, it is the public who will determine the fairness of the Speaker’s reign. And perhaps, just perhaps, they may realize that true impartiality cannot be achieved through a plate of scrambled eggs, but rather through the genuine dedication to upholding justice and equality for all.
