When Africans try to remind them of slavery and colonialism they tell them to forget the past and focus on the future. But what type of a future is this that has no history?

Lusaka, Sept. 13 – As Bob Marley aptly put it in a reggae rhythm, “Don’t forget your history, know your destiny. In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty.”
They turned us into commodities on the capitalist slave market; they colonised us, humiliated us for centuries; they killed our leaders who resisted subjugation. They took away not only our natural resources but also our human dignity.

When we try to remind them of this history they tell us to forget the past and focus on the future. But what type of a future is this that has no history? They themselves don’t try to forget their history, what suits them.
Today, they don’t even want us to even talk about neo-colonialism because they still want to continue to colonise us in a new time and in a new way. Fools, puppets fall for this and are made to turn against anti-imperialists forces – and they are made to despise them, mock them, humiliate and even kill them.

We have no dignified alternative but to struggle for our total liberation and defend our sovereignty, our dignity, our Africanness. We are Africans and we shouldn’t forget where we are coming from, our history.
