Harare, 4th Sept – The historical rapport shared between Zimbabwe and Zambia, often called “Sister Republics,” is an intricate and deeply rooted affiliation. This distinctive connection is defined by our interwoven history of anti-colonial strife and our mutual geographical and cultural affinities.
Arising from the dissolution of the British colonial Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, both nations attained sovereignty, with Zambia securing its independence in 1964 and Zimbabwe in 1980. Throughout our quests for liberation, mutual support was a prevailing theme, notably exemplified by prominent figures like Zambia’s Kenneth Kaunda, who offered refuge and endorsement to Zimbabwean freedom advocates.

This profound camaraderie has transcended our emancipation, nurturing diplomatic, economic, and cultural bonds. The awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, a natural wonder shared by our states, assumes a regal mantle, emblematic of our shared fate and the unity that underpins our sororal relationship.
We observe with a measure of concern that your esteemed country, Zambia, has, of late, assumed a rather adversarial stance towards Zimbabwe.
There is evidence that your President Hakainde Hachilema extended financial aid totaling US$400,000 to Nelson Chamisa and his endeavor, referred to as CCC, with the ostensible objective of opposing the interests of Zimbabwe.
On record is President Hachilema’s consistent telephonic communication with Nelson Chamisa to monitor campaign progress. This raises queries regarding the appropriateness of such conduct from a leader of a Sister Republic.

Joseph Kalimbwe, an individual openly adversarial to the Zimbabwean government, has publicly indicated on his Twitter profile that he enjoys the support of your President Hakainde Hachilema, on his stance on Zimbabwe – insinuating that the President is endorsing his inappropriate conduct on social media platforms. Is Mr. Kalimbwe accurately representing Zambian interests in Zimbabwe, and could you elucidate his precise mandate?
Nevers Mumba, designated by Mr. Hachilema, exploited his position as Head of the SADC Observer Mission, using it as a platform to contest Zimbabwe’s sovereign prerogative to legislate, safeguard its interests, and shield itself against Western hostility, including sanctions.
This veering from the path undermined established SADC Standards and Guidelines for Election Observation. Matters he needlessly grappled with were beyond his purview. The proposed legislations, or even bills, that he sought to address, were entirely unrelated to his mandate, hinting at preconceived notions not sought by the concerned parties.

The question beckons: Why does Zambia demonstrate such audacious antagonism towards Zimbabwe, aligning itself with a Western-sponsored, politically puppeteered faction that is met with failure, thereby participating in trying to subvert the will of the Zimbabwean electorate?
