…as Patriotic Front Members of Parliament reject Hichilema’s stooge, Miles Sampa, stating that they cannot be reduced to recognizing a deranged person!
By Mpandashalo Mwewa | Chief Editor.
Lusaka, Nov. 1 – Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a tinpot dictator as an autocratic ruler with little political credibility, but with self delusions of grandeur. Is that not our own Hakainde Hichilema? We have always known that he’s a liar but little did it cross our minds that we have an autocratic ruler at State House churning scriptures to blindfold the masses.

Patriotic Front PF Members of Parliament have outrightly rejected the imposition of expelled Matero Constituency Member of Parliament Miles Sampa as Patriotic Front party president.
The undersigned Members of Parliament have argued that they cannot be reduced to recognizing a deranged person who emerged as “president” from a shammed process. The shamed process, that the US Embassy has termed the “Mulungushigate” scandal is supposed to be Hichilema’s ingenuity! But the international community, his last hope, has seen through the scheme.

“The ‘Independence Retreat’ turned into an ‘Extraordinary General Conference’. It is like how the only taps the Watergate ‘plumbers’ were working on turned out to be wiretaps. The late night Independence Day fingerprints clearance from the Deputy Inspector General of Police’s letter is the Mulungushigate ‘smoking gun’, writes the US Embassy.
In a related development, Silavwe Jackson, the GPZ president has urged the nation to reflect on the current state of affairs stating that State institutions in a democratic state derive their power and legitimacy from instruments of democracy such as laws enshrined in the Constitution and statutes. That being the case;
◾1. How then can state institutions that respond to the whims of the Executive and act in a biased manner that assaults the basic tenets of democracy, claim legitimacy?
◾2. How can this Zambia Police Service safeguard our nations democracy when they are in the fore of raping it?
◾3. How can this Zambia police blatantly occupy the premises of a private club when no court order has been issued to that effect?
Mr. Silavwe says the conduct of the Zambia Police, Registrar of Societies and National Assembly in the Patriotic Front saga shows that collectively they can ASSAULT our democracy at WILL so long it advances the interests of their master.
“President Hakainde Hichilema’s State has no regard for democracy and only invokes it when it favours him or wants to push his personal agenda. To him Democracy is to bend to his personal will. Every right thinking democracy loving citizen must be very worried about the conduct of the police and its sister institutions, next it will be you or me!” reads his Facebook post.
But all this was foretold by Emeritus Archbishop Archbishop Telesphore G. Mpundu in his Communique where he recounted the abuse of Zambia Police and the emerging dictatorial tendencies by the new dawn administration.
“We write this statement in light of the emerging authoritarian tendencies by the new dawn government in which state institutions are now being abused despite the assurances from the Executive arm of government. We demand that the new dawn administration stops interfering with the statutory institutions that are mandated to protect, regulate and enforce the laws of Zambia as the first step in the restoration of the rule of law in Zambia,” Read, in part, the Communique, which went on to highlight a few examples:
◾1. Freedom of assembly and association:
Zambians are now living in a Police State where their fundamental rights and freedoms are at the mercy of the State Police who have been weaponized against the opposition and those with opposing views. The opposition political parties whose business is not only to provide checks and balances but also to mobilize support through direct contacts with the people are constantly and unreasonably stopped by the State Police to carry out their constitutional responsibilities with impunity.
◾2. The Registrar of Society:
We want to remind the captured Registrar of Societies that she’s NOT a Regulator of political parties and must not be abused by some shenanigans in the Executive. Please stop interfering in political parties’ internal affairs like the holding of conventions and the like.
◾3. Civil Society, Church, LAZ and The Diplomatic Corps:
We are appealing to LAZ, The Church, Civil Society and the Diplomatic Corps to take interest in the creeping dictatorship before it takes root in the country.
