President Hichilema, however, must show leadership by firing Hon. Haimbe as the Constitution places the burden of upholding and promoting national values and principles on him!
Lusaka, April 10 – The UPND mounted a lot of pressure to have the then General Education Minister, David Mabumba, vacate his office after the emergence of an illicit video in which the Minister was fondling his private parts.
The video went viral and attracted sharp comments, especially on social media, from the then opposition UPND.

The then opposition UPND Deputy Secretary General, Patrick Mucheleka, described the behaviour of Hon. Mabumba as a curse on the Nation of Zambia. And the then UPND Kankoyo Constituency aspiring candidate, Heartson Mabeta, described the video as extremely barbaric.
President Edgar Lungu went on to fire Hon. David Mabumba as Minister of General Education and replaced him with former Minister of Water Development, Hon. Dennis Wanchinga.
Today, however, Hon. Heartson Mabeta and his colleagues who spoke so loudly that Mabumba should resign have seen nothing wrong with Justice Minister Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, a married man, being at the centre of the two recently lost lives. How ironic!
A former bank employee, Mike Ilishebo, 44, allegedly killed his 35-year-old wife, Valerie Franco, before taking his own life in Zambia following an alleged Hon. Haimbe’s inappropriate sexual relationship with the late Mike Ilishebo’s wife, Valerie.
Police Public Relations officer, Rae Hamoonga, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, April 4, said that Mr. Ilishebo strangled Valerie with an electric power adapter cable and stabbed her in the stomach with a knife.
But of great concern is President Hakainde Hichilema’s silence over the matter as Hon. Haimbe continues to act as if nothing happened when the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia places the burden of upholding and promoting national values and principles on the President?
You may be aware that once every year, the Constitution, under Article 9 (2), directs the President to address the nation through Parliament, to show progress that his Government has made in the upholding and promotion of national values and principles.

President Hakainde Hichilema ought to realise that this is not about liking or hating Hon. Mulambo Haimbe but hating his behaviour and the Constitution demands that he defends it by the upholding and promotion of national values and principles.
