Meanwhile, State House has confirmed that President Hichilema will be attending this year’s Kuomboka Traditional Ceremony as an ordinary citizen!
Kasama, April 18 – Mwine Lubemba, Paramount Chief Chitimukulu, Kanyanta Manga II, has departed Kasama for Mongu. The Paramount Chief of the Bemba people is the Guest of Honour at the 2024 Kuomboka Traditional Ceremony scheduled for Saturday, 20th April 2024.

The Chitimukulu is attending the annual Ceremony as Guest of Honour in reciprocity where his Majesty the Litunga King Lubosi Imwiko was guest of honour during the last held Ukusefya Pang’wena Traditional Ceremony.
The government, through the Permanent Secretary for Western Province, tried to have the BRE cancel the invitation to Paramount Chief Chitimukulu to grace this year’s Kuomboka Traditional Ceremony and instead invite the Republican President Hakainde Hichilema.
The BRE, however, held a press briefing at Limulunga and reaffirmed that the BRE hand not changed its decision to have the Chief Chitimukulu grace the Kuomboka Traditional Ceremony. Ngambela Mukela Manyando said Chitimukulu’s advance parte had already arrived in Mongu ahead of the Kuomboka this weekend.
Relations between His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema and the BRE have soured following alleged “demeaning” remarks President Hichilema made last year surrounding the existence of Barotseland.
State House Chief Communications Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, has confirmed in a statement that President Hichilema will be attending this year’s Kuomboka Ceremony as a citizen because even before he became Republican President, he attended the Kuomboka Ceremony that he so much treasures.

Meanwhile, the Head of State was yesterday accused of gate crushing a function where he equally demanded that he be invited as Guest of Honour.
Some eminent Zambians came up with the idea of launching a Foundation in honour of the late Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula and invited his Lordship the Chief Justice Dr. Mumba Malila SC as Guest of Honour at the event slated for yesterday at the Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka.
On Tuesday, President Hakainde Hichilema got wind of the scheduled event and got in touch with the organisers of the event and told them that he was attending the event as Guest of Honour.
The organisers told His Excellency that they had already extended their invitation for that role to the Chief Justice Dr. Malila. To the surprise of many guests, President Hichilema popped up at Pamodzi Hotel and was accorded the decorum he deserves and given some time to say what he wanted.
According to our sources, who were part of the event, Mr. Hichilema spoke for a long time talking about the successes he has scored and not about the person the event was all about ( Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula).
