Silence in the face of injustice is complicity!

An analysis of the stance of the West on the abduction of MP Hon. Emmanuel Jay Banda and the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi reveals a disturbing pattern of indifference and complicity.

Lusaka, June 28 – The moment we grasped the extent of the damage inflicted upon Hon. Emmanuel Jay Banda yet persisted, we catapulted from willful ignorance into the depths of calculated evil. This compels one to wonder whether the elusive abductors were complicit in transforming willful ignorance into a meticulously orchestrated malevolence.

We would like to revisit the case involving the brutal murdering of Saudi born Journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey on October 2, 2018. Khashoggi was ambushed and strangled by a 15 member squad of Saudi Operatives. His body was dismembered and disposed of in a way that was never publicly revealed with the main suspicion that it was dissolved in Acid. What a cruel and painful way of dying.

What we want to remind you today is the way the West behaved especially the US government, in particular. Their intelligence networks knew and still know the involvement of the Saudi government at top level. Even the United Nations Dr. Agnes Callamard, the then United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extra Judicial, Summary or Arbitrary Killings, who was tasked to investigate the matter.

Despite overwhelming evidence of the involvement of the Saudi government, it was business as usual because the West is more interested in the economic relationship with the Saudis.

This is exactly what is happening in the case of the Petauke Central Lawmaker. The West which has probably more sophiscated intelligence network within Zambia knows what really happened over Mr. Banda’s abduction.

Someone even suggested that the security Cameras at the US Embassy likely captured what happened but no Western country is willing to help Zambians know the truth because currently they want to maintain a close relationship with the current ruling party.

We are aware that this government has reached a stage where it no longer feels ashamed of this episode but one day, just one day, the tables will turn and the gnashing of teeth shall commence. The issues surrounding the abduction of Petauke Central Independent Member of Parliament, Hon. Emmanuel Jay Banda, however long it takes, will end in ” tears” for the UPND Government.
