…meets Tonse Alliance. It has scheduled further meetings with key stakeholders, including the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA), with the aim of consolidating broader support.
Lusaka, Oct. 15 – Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General, Hon. Raphael Nakacinda, has embarked on a crucial mission to sell the recently adopted rules of engagement and electoral pacts of the party’s Central Committee. This outreach began with a key meeting with the Tonse Alliance, led by Christian Democratic Party President, Dr. Danny Pule. The meeting marks the beginning of a larger strategy aimed at uniting various political forces against what they perceive as the current administration’s disregard for national interests in favour of foreign entities.

Accompanying Hon. Nakacinda were several notable figures from the PF’s Central Committee, including Hon. Richard Musukwa, Hon. George Chisanga, Hon. Sylvia Chalikosa, Hon. Frank Ngambi, and Ambassador Emmanuel Mwamba. The Tonse Alliance team included the New Era Democratic Party leader Exhildah Mwenya, Pastor Peter Chanda of the New Congress Party, Zambia Republican Party President Wright Musoma, and Umodzi Ku Mawa Spokesperson Chanoda Ngwira. Their gathering symbolized a deliberate step toward a united front, designed to harness political energy from a broad spectrum of Zambian society.
In his remarks, Hon. Nakacinda underscored the importance of rallying various social formations, ranging from political parties to trade unions, civil society groups, and the Church. His message was clear: the Patriotic Front is positioning itself as the driving force behind a national movement to liberate Zambia from the grip of the United Party for National Development (UPND), which, according to Hon. Nakacinda, is more invested in promoting foreign multinational interests than safeguarding Zambia’s sovereignty. He painted the PF as the only party capable of steering the country back toward self-determination and national pride.
Dr. Danny Pule, head of the Christian Democratic Party, echoed these sentiments and emphasized the need for fairness in these alliances. He called on the PF to apply the same standards and rules to all political coalitions, ensuring that no party or movement is left behind in the quest for a common goal. The PF, he suggested, must serve as the anchor around which other political parties and civic movements rally, thereby creating a powerful coalition capable of reversing the current administration’s policies that Hon. Pule and others argue have weakened Zambia’s democratic foundations.

Hon. Nakacinda also revealed that his mission would not stop with the Tonse Alliance. He has scheduled further meetings with key stakeholders, including the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA), with the aim of consolidating broader support. He urged all political and civil society stakeholders to come together for the good of Zambia, emphasizing that the time had come for collective action to restore democracy, uphold the rule of law, and defend the country’s long-cherished human rights and national development agenda.
In essence, Hon. Nakacinda’s efforts represent more than just political maneuvering; they signify a call to arms for all Zambians who believe in safeguarding their nation’s democratic principles. The Patriotic Front is positioning itself as the torchbearer of this cause, with Hon. Nakacinda at the helm, determined to rally the masses and turn the tide against what he views as a government increasingly beholden to foreign interests. The road ahead may be fraught with challenges, but if these alliances hold firm, they could very well tip the balance of power in Zambia’s political landscape.
