Slippery Hichilema has pulled another fast one on Zambians, exporting electricity amid the country’s worst power crisis while cranking up tariffs, leaving citizens and businesses high and dry as they struggle to survive in the dark!
Lusaka, Oct. 12 – In yet another twist of political betrayal, President Hakainde Hichilema has been caught red-handed, playing a deceitful game with the Zambian people while the country suffers through its worst power crisis in living memory.

True journalism must uncover the truth behind false promises, hold leaders accountable, and prioritize the nation’s needs over blind political loyalty.
While cities plunge into darkness for days on end, Hichilema has been peddling the narrative that he is tirelessly working to solve the brutal loadshedding. But fresh revelations from Statistics Botswana expose this as a blatant smokescreen. ZESCO, Zambia’s national power supplier, has shockingly outperformed South Africa’s Eskom as the leading electricity exporter to Botswana, while Zambians languish in the dark.
ZESCO, drawing power from the mighty Kariba Dam, is supplying 40.5% of Botswana’s power needs, surpassing Eskom’s 38.5%. Meanwhile, Zambians can hardly get three hours of electricity in a day. Entire cities are crippled, businesses have ground to a halt, and livelihoods are crumbling.
Yet, while the nation struggles, Hichilema quietly oversees a booming power export business across the border. It’s like selling water to your neighbour while your own house is burning down – an outrageous betrayal that leaves any right thinking mind wondering where his true priorities lie.
To add salt to the wound, Hichilema has shamelessly used this artificially created power crisis to justify hiking electricity tariffs. The very man who, as opposition leader, lambasted the previous regime for even suggesting a tariff increase now turns a blind eye to the suffering he once passionately condemned.

Zambia’s failure to harness its rich emerald resources is a result of poor leadership, stunting economic growth despite the vast potential for prosperity through local ownership and value addition.
His hypocritical 360-degree turn is an insult to every Zambian grappling with skyrocketing costs and powerless homes. As the saying goes, “don’t bite the hand that feeds you,” but Hichilema seems content not only to bite, but to chew and spit in the faces of those who elected him.
At this point, one has to wonder whether Zambia is better off with a conman like the former Kasama Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Kelvin Sampa, as head of state. Hichilema’s actions expose him as not just a liar, but perhaps one of the most cunning and deceptive leaders Zambia has ever seen. His broken promises and brutal policies have left a trail of devastation that can only be understood by worshippers of a self confessed killer, Tony Blair!
