By reinforcing Dr. Chilufya’s message about the people of Luapula’s dissatisfaction with alleged Executive interference in the Judiciary, Hon. Kalaba has shown his dedication to a new leadership approach rooted in loyalty to the people.

Lusaka, Nov. 27 – Hon. Harry Kalaba, President of Citizens First (CF), has made a resounding call for President Hakainde Hichilema to address the concerns raised by Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, Mansa Central Member of Parliament, regarding the grievances of the people of Luapula Province. At the heart of the issue lies the incarceration of two prominent lawmakers, Hon. Ronald Chitotela and Hon. Nickson Chilangwa, whose continued detention has sparked allegations of Executive interference in the judiciary.

Speaking with conviction, Kalaba underscored the urgency of the matter, stating, “President Hichilema must act promptly on Dr. Chilufya’s plea. It is unfathomable that the President can campaign for votes in Kawambwa while neglecting the very people he has humiliated by allowing Chilangwa to languish in jail.”
Yet, it is Hon. Kalaba’s decision to transcend the purported motives behind Dr. Chilufya’s plea and instead amplify the core message that sets him apart. In doing so, he has demonstrated a rare brand of leadership – one that prioritizes unity and common purpose over political point-scoring. This approach, rooted in loyalty to the people, reflects a maturity desperately needed in Zambia’s political arena.
◾Bridging the Divide
Dr. Chitalu Chilufya recently outlined a bold vision for political reform aimed at fostering collaboration between the Executive and opposition parties. His proposal, which champions constructive engagement, has sparked fresh discussions about the need for a paradigm shift in Zambian politics. Dr. Chilufya’s actions, including his participation in a working presidential visit to Mazabuka, signal an openness to dialogue that transcends partisan divides.
In embracing this message, Hon. Kalaba refrains from the divisive rhetoric that has long plagued Zambian politics. He opts instead for a higher road, one where leaders focus on substantive issues rather than indulging in personal attacks. This departure from the usual mudslinging not only preserves the integrity of public discourse but also reaffirms the essence of democracy: accountability through robust, issue-based debate.
◾A Call for Statesmanship
Politics driven by personal grievances and ad hominem attacks erodes public trust and reduces governance to a theater of egos. In contrast, true statesmanship calls for leaders to rise above individual differences, championing the collective good over narrow interests. Dr. Chilufya’s latest political reform agenda exemplifies this ethos, signaling a shift toward a more inclusive and progressive approach to leadership.
Collaboration does not imply surrendering principles; rather, it involves seeking common ground to address the pressing needs of the nation. Zambia, burdened by stagnation and economic challenges, requires a leadership reset – one that prioritizes service delivery and poverty alleviation over political expediency.
◾A Vision for Zambia’s Future
Hon. Kalaba’s endorsement of Dr. Chilufya’s plea transcends mere political strategy. It is a bold step toward reshaping Zambia’s governance culture, one that demands accountability not just from the ruling party but also from opposition representatives. By encouraging cooperation between opposition leaders and the Executive, Dr. Chilufya is charting a path that prioritizes the welfare of all Zambians over partisan divides.
This vision challenges the status quo and calls for leaders with the courage to prioritize the needs of the people. It demands loyalty to a higher cause – transforming Zambia into a nation where progress, unity, and opportunity reign supreme.

He has embraced a vision of leadership that seeks solutions, fosters dialogue, and above all, remains steadfastly loyal to the people. This is the kind of leadership Zambia desperately needs as it charts a path toward growth, stability, and prosperity.
