As a heartfelt tribute to the late Ward Chairperson, Hon. Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, the Mansa Central lawmaker, vowed to stand by the bereaved family, committing to uphold and advance the visionary aspirations that defined the life and legacy of Fimpulu Ward Chairperson, Mr. Arthur Chanda.
Lusaka, Dec. 6 – The late Patriotic Front (PF) Fimpulu Ward Chairperson, Mr. Arthur Chanda, was laid to rest in a solemn ceremony attended by hundreds of mourners, including political leaders, family, and community members. Among those present were Mansa Central Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, Mansa Mayor Mr. Njikho Musuku, local councillors, and PF officials.

In his tribute, Hon. Dr. Chilufya described Mr. Chanda as a devoted leader and a cherished friend, reflecting on their shared journey of service that began in 2011. He highlighted Mr. Chanda’s unwavering commitment to the community, which spanned over two decades, and praised his contributions to education, agriculture, and socio-economic development in Fimpulu.
“I am deeply grieved because I have lost a special friend, a fellow leader, and a brother,” Dr. Chilufya said. “Mr. Arthur Chanda, lying here, and I started serving our people together as far back as 2011. He was a remarkable man who dedicated himself to serving people. I urge you all to draw lessons from his work and support his legacy by continuing from where he left off.”
Dr. Chilufya emphasized how Mr. Chanda’s leadership had transformed Fimpulu Ward into a better place through his dedication to political mobilization, civic engagement, and local development. He urged the community to honor his memory by building on the foundations he had laid.
As part of his final respects, Dr. Chilufya personally arranged for the coffin, food, and transportation for mourners and PF officials attending the funeral. He also pledged continued support to Mr. Chanda’s family, ensuring that the aspirations and legacy of the late ward chairman would be upheld.
“Fimpulu has lost a beacon of hope,” Dr. Chilufya remarked. “We hope future generations will find strength and inspiration in Mr. Arthur Chanda’s exemplary life.”
The ceremony was a testament to Mr. Chanda’s impact on his community, with mourners from across political divides coming together to celebrate the life of a man who dedicated himself to service. Dr. Chilufya’s tribute, along with the overwhelming support from attendees, underscored the profound loss felt by all who knew Mr. Chanda. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
