The passing of Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta

Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta, a wise gentleman of note, was a great Zambian nationalist, patriot, freedom fighter and a reformer with a razor sharp mind.

Lusaka, July 21 – New Heritage Party would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) on the passing of Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta.

The Senior Chief was known and appreciated as a kind and wise gentleman of note. More importantly, the Chief who is a former Member of the Central Committee of United National Independence Party (UNIP) was a great Zambian nationalist, patriot, freedom fighter and a reformer with a razor sharp mind.

These rare qualities of leadership in him were amply demonstrated, in that even after being detained by Dr. Chiluba’s MMD administration on trumped up treason charges, and after the constitution was manipulated and changed by the MMD to exclude chiefs from eligibility to be candidates for the Republican President out of fear that he was going to run for the Presidency of Zambia and win, he never harboured hatred towards those that had betrayed and tortured him.

His passing is, therefore, not only a big loss to the late Senior Chief’s family, the BRE, his subjects in Mwandi, all “Malozi”, but to the entire nation.

May the Lord Himself comfort his family, his subjects as well as all that knew him.
