The wheelchair was confiscated on Wednesday last week by LCC Police as part of the local authority’s crackdown on street vending.
Lusaka, Oct. 23 [KBN TV] – Following the heated backlash from members of the public and stakeholders alike, the Lusaka City Council has returned the wheelchair which was confiscated from Daniel Mwamba, a differently abled man who sells plastic carrier bags in the Lusaka Central Business District for a living.

Mr. Mwamba’s wheelchair was confiscated from him on Wednesday last week as part of the local authority’s crackdown on street vending.
The local authority is said to have returned the wheelchair to Mr. Mwamba on the same day it was confiscated from him after a KBN TV reporter called them to inquire over the same.
And Mwamba has confirmed to KBN TV news that he was given back his wheelchair on the same day it was confiscated from him.
Mr. Mwamba who has resumed his street vending in the Central Business District has since appealed for empowerment from well-wishers so that he can start up another business venture away from street vending.
