As a mob, yet again, in the absence of the Police, takes the law into its own hands in Lusaka’s Kabwata area and kills a suspected criminal
Lusaka, Oct. 26 – A suspected criminal between 35-40 years old has died after being beaten by a mob in Lusaka’s Kabwata area. The deceased who is yet to be identified collaborated with his colleague to attack a 28 year old man only identified as Lukonde.
Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale has confirmed the incident to Woodpecker’s Digest saying this occured in the early hours of yesterday, October 25, 2023, at around 02.00hrs in Kabwata.

Mwale explained that the two suspects who were armed with iron bars, attacked the victim as he was dropping off his friend.
“They asked for money and as the victim was transacting, one of the suspects grabbed the victim’s cellular phone and ran away. It is at this point that the victim gave a chase and shouted loudly for help,” Mwale said.
Members of the community responded and managed to apprehend the suspect, who was then beaten and as a result, sustained fatal head injuries as well as a broken right leg.
“Police officers who visited the scene found the suspect unconscious and was immediately rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for medical attention,” Mwale further disclosed.
He revealed that, Police were later informed that the suspect had died in the early hours of today at around 05.00hrs. The body remains in the hospital mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem.
