Lusaka, Mar. 2 – ZCCM- IH shareholders have unanimously approved the acquisition of 51 percent shares in Mopani Copper Mines Plc by Delta Mining Limited. The approval was given at the Shareholder’s Extraordinary General Meeting held in Lusaka on February 23rd, 2024.

ZCCM-IH will retain 49 percent shares in Mopani, with three out of nine board seats, five by Delta and one by Government. This will enable ZCCM-IH to continue participating in the governance of Mopani and have full visibility of its operations.
Delta Mining Limited, a subsidiary of International Resource Holdings, has agreed to acquire the 51 percent shareholding in Mopani for an investment of up to one point one billion United States dollars.
Speaking after the Extraordinary General Meeting, ZCCM-IH Board Chairperson Kakenenwa Muyangwa said the transaction is a landmark achievement that delivers significant value to ZCCM-IH, Mopani, and the Zambian people.

Mr. Muyangwa said the transaction represents a major step for Zambia’s copper mining industry towards the achievement of the country’s three million metric tonnes of copper production per annum by 2032.
This is according to a statement issued by ZCCM Investments Holdings Corporate Affairs Manager Loisa Mbatha.
