Lieutenant General Dennis Alibuzwi, the Zambia Army Commander, has affirmed that the army is prepared to fulfill its duties when summoned by the Head of State.
Lusaka, June 7 [PhoenixNews] – Zambia Army Commander, Lieutenant General Dennis Alibuzwi says the army stands ready to execute its mandate if called upon by the head of State. This is in response to President Hakainde Hichilema’s remarks that he would deploy the army if the police failed to do their work.

Woodpecker’s Digest perceives the suggestion by President Hichilema of involving the Zambia Army in maintaining law and order as a deliberate step towards distancing the country from democratic norms.
Lieutenant General Alibuzwi expressed worry about the growing frequency of tribal divisions being promoted by certain individuals in the country.
He emphasized the significance of Zambians rejecting tribal divisions and instead embracing the One Zambia One Nation motto, which aims to foster unity irrespective of tribal affiliations.
Lieutenant General Alibuzwi spoke during a courtesy visit to Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Rose Sakala, while attending an African Union specialized technical committee on defense, safety, and security.
