State Counsel Sakwiba Sikota has maintained that Hon. Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda did name people connected to his abduction and torture. Hichilema is a liar!
Lusaka, July 7 – Hichilema’s so-called rule of law is nothing but smoke and mirrors. The truth is, Zambia has spiraled into a mafia state where some folks are untouchable, backed by the very man who claims to champion justice!

State Counsel Sakwiba Sikota has thrown down the gauntlet, urging President Hakainde’s government to cut the crap and address the abduction of Petauke MP Emmanuel Jay Banda, known far and wide as Jay Jay.
Sikota insists that Jay Jay named names connected to his ordeal. “Instead of launching a proper investigation into Jay Jay’s abduction and torture, the government has been hell-bent on silencing him from day one,” Sikota declared.
Government bigwigs, from Permanent Secretaries to the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, have been caught with their pants down, blatantly lying that Jay Jay never fingered anyone. Sikota questioned, “Even if Jay Jay hadn’t named names (which he did, as I witnessed), investigators globally chase down even anonymous tips. Here in Zambia, clear allegations are swept under the rug.”
We stand with State Counsel Sakwiba Sikota because the audio evidence of Permanent Secretaries Thabo Kawana and Dickson Matembo trying to intimidate, coerce, and bribe Emmanuel Jay Banda demands swift action. These crooks should resign or be sacked by the President without delay.
The actions of Jack Mwiimbu warrant a public apology for his unwarranted attack on State Counsel Sakwiba Sikota regarding this matter.
State Counsel Sikota has indicated that there are numerous recordings involving various officials that will irrefutably reveal who was truthful and who was deceitful. “By allowing government officials to entangle themselves in a web of lies, I refrained from immediately highlighting that Jack Mwiimbu is either unaware of his Permanent Secretary’s actions and police knowledge or, worse, made his statements with full awareness of a scheme to obstruct justice,” Sikota stated.
The audio recordings provide undeniable evidence of interference with police investigations. The officials repeatedly pressured Hon. Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda to retract his identification of Clayson Hamasaka and Levy Ngoma as being present at the location where he was taken post-abduction.
“It seems they are indifferent to Trevor Mwiinde, the UPND Deputy Youth Chairman, who was also named. Clearly, their concern lies with individuals closely associated with President Hakainde Hichilema. Kawana manages the President’s and his government’s image, while Matembo oversees the police,” Sikota elaborated.
President Hichilema is fully aware that interference with police investigations encompasses any actions that obstruct or impede a law enforcement agency’s investigation into a crime or alleged crime. This includes tampering with evidence, intimidating or threatening witnesses, providing false information or misleading statements, concealing or destroying evidence, and attempting to influence or bribe investigators.
State Counsel Sikota emphasized, “Interfering with a police investigation is a grave offense and can lead to criminal charges, including obstruction of justice or hindering a law enforcement investigation.”
The gravity of these allegations necessitates immediate and decisive action to uphold the integrity of the justice system and ensure accountability among those in power.
