But Andrew Siwabamundi’s analytical reaction has drawn our attention and please do allow us to share his profound statement!
Lusaka, July 13 – “We are having sleepless nights to find solutions to the power crisis, but going in the streets burning tyres is not where the solution is!” argues President Hichilema.

The President says Zambia is bound to have excess power once his planned projects are completed. But Andrew Siwabamundi does not agree.
“Reality has a way of bringing high-flyers back down to earth. Why not put into practice the solutions proposed for Dubai, a city in the middle of a desert that hasn’t seen rain in ages yet doesn’t deal with load shedding? After all, didn’t the same person, with their own lips, boast about ending load shedding within a year on the Hot FM live interview?” Siwabamundi wondered.
It’s not only Siwabamundi questioning President Hichilema’s integrity. Perusing through “Levy Patrick Mwanawasa: An incentive for posterity” written by Amos Malupenga and edited by Professor Fackson Banda, the late President says, “The problem Mr. Hichilema has is the fact that he wants to cheat, to mislead, to show that he is what he is not. His understanding of politics is that it doesn’t matter; you can cheat, provided you get your goals!”
What Zambia ultimately needs is a new home bred governance system that must prioritize development over politics of patronage. We don’t need heroes but a strong institutional framework that should support a self sustaining democratic Zambia.
