Alarmingly, the IG appears to condone Kasauta’s baseless claims, a probable pretext to arm UPND strongholds with guns ahead of the 2026 general elections!
Lusaka, August 8 – We call upon Zambians with unlocked minds to reflect on the ineffectiveness of the Zambia Police Service under the new dawn government. The service has forsaken proactive policing in favour of a reactive, firefighting approach aimed at justifying its decision to deflect its incompetence onto alleged political opponents of the current administration.

Why has it tolerated the inflammatory remarks made by Michelo Kasauta, Member of Parliament for Bweengwa Constituency? What authority does Kasauta have to label the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) as a criminal organization?
Are the accusations that the UKA plans to use firearms in 2026 not a pretext for arresting its members on fabricated sedition charges? Is this the rule of law that President Hichilema continually touts in his incessant press briefings filled with promises?
“It is high time that we find a systematic way of handling this UKWA (UKA) criminal organization before we live to regret. This is African politics. These guys have illegal means of wanting to get back into power, better we deal with them now. We are aware that these criminals have illegal guns which they want to use in 2026. It’s better rounded up now and confiscate them otherwise they will give us hell in 2026!” shamelessly reads Michelo Kasauta’s Facebook’s post.
How long should Zambians endure President Hichilema’s “systematic” manipulation of the main opposition political party, the Patriotic Front, through his proxy, Miles Sampa?
This inability to confront this particular injustice is what has emboldened individuals like Michelo Kasauta, who now feels empowered to declare, “It is high time we find a “systematic” way of handling this UKA criminal organization before we live to regret it!”
But what Kasauta describes as African politics is, in fact, a manifestation of barbaric tribalism from Bweengwa, that has lead to unprecedented fragmentation in Zambia. State House is now jokingly called a “Bweengwa Republic” because almost everyone who has been employed there is a relative of either the President or the First Lady.

Politics should serve as a vehicle for development, not a self-preservation tool. It is evident that Hichilema and his associates are prepared to ruthlessly exploit governance institutions to consolidate political power in the South West at any cost.
Michelo Kasauta’s baseless claims that UKA members possess illegal firearms intended for use in 2026 are merely a pretext to arm UPND strongholds ahead of the general elections. Alarmingly, the Inspector General of Police appears to condone these developments.
