“The cause of the fire is unknown because at the time the fire started there was no power and there was nothing to point to that could have started the fire, so the cause is unknown,” Fr. Malama said.

Chilanga Dean Fr. Titus Malama reported that the fire erupted between 17:00 and 18:00 hours yesterday November the 11th and remains unexplained. Although the Fire Brigade managed to contain the blaze, the loss of property is extensive.
“The priests are safe,” said Fr. Malama. “At the time the fire started, Fr. Washeni was in the chapel praying the Rosary, and Fr. Mutinta was away. Both of their vehicles are intact, but most household furniture and personal items were destroyed, with only a few items salvaged.”
The building had no power at the time of the fire, and with no clear indicators of what might have sparked the blaze, the cause remains unknown as investigations are awaited.
“The cause of the fire is unknown because at the time the fire started there was no power and there was nothing to point to that could have started the fire, so the cause is unknown,” Fr. Malama said.
