South Africa and Uganda are seen as leaning towards Russia, while Zambia and Comoros are closer to the West. Egypt, Senegal and Congo-Brazzaville have remained largely neutral.
Lusaka, June 18 – Until Mr. Hichilema became President, Zambia has always been seen as a non-aligned Pan African state.
But because of the agenda of the Brenthurst Foundation that Mr. Hichilema belongs to, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda’s years of hard work and sacrifice to build this image was wiped out in less than a year which has seen even the US establishing the AFRICOM Centre in Lusaka.
In describing Africa’s peace initiative over the Ukraine war, BBC has described Zambia as leaning towards the West. To those who know and understand the history of Zambia, this is heartbreaking.
“The African delegation has been specifically designed for breadth and balance, with members from different parts of Africa with different views on the conflict. South Africa and Uganda are seen as leaning towards Russia, while Zambia and Comoros are closer to the West. Egypt, Senegal and Congo-Brazzaville have remained largely neutral,” reads in part, a statement by BBC.

What the world must be made to know, however, is that this is not Zambia’s position on the Ukraine war but Greg Mills of the Brenthurst Foundation who happens to be President Hakainde Hichilema’s friend and now works from State House.
Parliament must take keen interest in this story. One would have thought that Zambia was being represented by President Hichilema on this delegation as a neutral state. What has Ukraine done for Zambia in comparison to Russia?
