Makebi Zulu Advocates have urged the DPP and the DEC to stop prosecuting the former First Family in the media and take matters to court and serve the process.
Lusaka, June 27 – Lawyers for former First Lady, Mama Esther Lungu and Chawama Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon.Tasila Lungu, have disclosed that the State is failing to follow process of law in the matter in which the Director of Public of Prosecutions (DPP) has applied for a non-conviction forfeiture of assets belonging to their clients.
Despite being advised that the former First Lady and Hon. Tasila Lungu are being represented by Makebi Zulu Advocates, the Drug Enforcement Commission and the DPP’s Chambers have failed to serve the documents and process on the lawyers.
When Makebi Zulu Advocates were contacted for a comment, they stated that up to now, no documents have been served on the firm and they are just reading about the matter in the media.
The lawyers have since urged the DPP and the DEC to stop prosecuting the former First Family in the media and take matters to court and serve the process.
